Wormwood is a mysterious plant. It has gained immense popularity as an ingredient in the herbal tincture, absinthe. Wormwood's constituent is thujone, which in excessive quantities can cause poisoning. For this reason, the production, distribution and consumption of absinthe was banned for a time in some European countries. The ban has now been lifted, although some restrictions have been introduced. However, it turns out that wormwood has many other uses. Dried leaves are used in herbalism and culinary applications. Thanks to its characteristic herbal-bitter taste, wormwood works well as an ingredient in infusions and certain dishes. It blends perfectly with the bitter taste of yerba mate.

What can you use wormwood for?
- Infusion: wormwood can be used to prepare an infusion or added to tea, herbs or yerba mate. To prepare an infusion, pour about 200 ml of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dried leaves and steep for about 30 minutes, covered.
- Food ingredient: dried wormwood leaves can be used in small amounts in a variety of recipes, e.g. as a seasoning for fatty, roast meat; they also complement salads and sauces perfectly, introducing a bitter, herbal aftertaste.
